The Venerable Simon Hill, was officially installed as the Archdeacon of Taunton and Diocesan Warden of Readers on Saturday 01 October at a special service held at Wells Cathedral. The Bishop of Bath and Wells, the Rt Revd Peter Hancock led the joyful occasion which was attended by hundreds of well wishers. Oversight of the legal aspect of the service was provided by Diocesan Registrar, Roland Callaby.
The Ven Simon Hill succeeds John Reed who retired in the summer. Archdeacon Simon was previously the Diocesan Director of Clergy Development; a role he held for six years.
The service was combined with a celebration to mark the 150th anniversary of Reader ministry. Five new Readers were licensed, and three more were rededicated and welcomed into the diocese.
