The Revd Canon Anne Gell will be formally welcomed and installed as the next Archdeacon of Wells at a special service in Wells Cathedral on Saturday 20 May. All are welcome to the service to celebrate and give thanks for Anne’s appointment.
The service starts at 3pm and guests are asked to be seated by 2.40pm. Refreshments will follow the service and though an open, unticketed event, if you would like to attend, please email email@example.com for catering purposes.
Bishop Peter Hancock announced Anne’s appointment in January this year. A former doctor, Anne succeeds the Very Revd Nicola Sullivan who moved to become Dean of Southwell in September 2016.
Commenting on her new role, Anne says: “I feel very privileged and deeply humbled to have been appointed as Archdeacon of Wells and Residentiary Canon of Wells Cathedral, and look forward to being able to serve, and to support and enable ministry, in both those roles. It is an exciting prospect to be joining Bishop Peter’s staff team and the Cathedral Chapter at a time of renewed energy and vision, and to be helping to encourage and resource the outworking of that vision in parishes, schools and chaplaincies.
