Temporary Part-time Young Adults Adviser Post
Maternity cover, beginning on 1st September 2008 or as soon as possible thereafter; a job share would be possible for suitable candidates
The Education Department is looking to appoint a skilled / qualified person on a temporary basis to cover a period of maternity leave for approximately ten months with a possibility of extension, starting September 1st 2008. Within the Diocese’s ‘Changing Lives’ initiative, the postholder will support the development of the church’s work with young adults (age 17 – 25) as it seeks to provide for the personal, social, educational and spiritual development of this age group. This post is open to a potential job share by negotiation.
Hours of work: 16 hours per week
Salary: £10182 plus work related expenses
An outline of the principal duties and responsibilities:
- To provide support and advice to those who work with young adults (the 16+ age group)
- To promote and facilitate opportunities for the church to work with young adults in the FE sector and post-16 age range in schools
- With the Diocesan Youth Adviser to facilitate the Youth Evangelism Fund
- To contact / meet with all Anglican based CYM / SWYM / gap year students in the Diocese offering support for them and their placements
- To continue to promote Gap Year experiences
- To develop links with the Church of England Youth Council through the CEYP representative
- To develop a young adults section of the diocesan website
- To liaise with the team and work with other organisations in developing accreditation for young volunteers
- To contribute to the department’s training programmes, conferences and events
- To liaise with the Education Resource Centre to develop appropriate resources for young adults
- To develop and occasionally lead worship for young adults
This post will require the successful applicant to undergo an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check
