Agreed Syllabus: Awareness, Mystery and Value
Each Local Authority is legally required to draw up an Agreed Syllabus for the teaching of RE in its area and to review it every five years.
Awareness, Mystery and Value was introduced in February 1998.
There are two attainment targets:

The syllabus is compiled from six areas of enquiry, three for each attainment target:

- Level Descriptions for each AT
- Programmes of Study
- Examples of Work for each Unit
- Advice on planning a scheme of work
Many of the Units have been planned in more detail by a working party of teachers in North Somerset and these are building into a complete Scheme of Work.
