CHAIRING A CHURCH MEETING
This course is for those new to chairing church meetings, and those who may have been chairing meetings for some time and wish to enhance their skills. It helps participants to chair church meetings more effectively. The meeting may be a Parochial Church Council, Benefice Council, Local Ministry Group Council or another meeting within the church. (The term chairman refers to both women and men). The course covers:

Assessing the quality of a Church meeting

Chairman-like behaviour in a Christian setting

Developing an appropriate agenda for Church business

Dialogue, debate and dissent as approaches for securing agreement

A range of problem solving approaches to use in meetings

Ways and means of dealing with typical behaviours and issues during meetings

Prayer for meetings and members

Identifying areas for self-improvement in chairing meetings
The methods used during the course are group discussion, group exercises, and short talk. The course is a full day.
