The Jesse Tree - A family activity for Advent

This Jesse Tree activity is designed to help families prepare for Christmas and the celebration of Jesus’ birth.

It traces the spiritual family tree of Jesus Christ in the retelling many of the Bible stories that led up to Jesus’ birth.  Read how to set up your own Jesse Tree at home this Advent.

The symbol of the Jesse Tree comes from the book of Isaiah. When King Saul turned away from God, God rejected him as king and sent the prophet Samuel to Jesse's farm near Bethlehem in search of a new king from among Jesse’s eight sons. David, the youngest and a shepherd boy, was chosen. David became a great king and it was in his line - the Jesse line - that Jesus Christ was born a thousand years later in fulfilment of the prophecies.
