The Benefice of Wells St Cuthbert with Wookey Hole

VICAR
St Cuthbert’s is the civic church of Wells. We have been on a journey reinvigorating the life and mission of St Cuthbert’s through the re-ordering of the church building.
We now seek someone who will grow a new congregation whilst supporting the present one, who understands modern culture and why the Church is going through such massive change.
We have a commitment to grow in faith using small group learning and through extending hospitality and friendship. We want to reach out to those outside the church membership and structure.
We are looking for someone to join us at this stage of the journey:
-with a proven ability to develop and grow a church
-experienced in leading to faith those from a non church culture
-evidencing the character to work among us not over us
-with the skills necessary to build a ministry team
-sensitive to traditional Eucharistic liturgy whilst open to alternative forms of worship

The Portishead Team Ministry

Portishead is an expanding town of over 24,000 people in North Somerset. We are seeking a Team Vicar to join us in shaping and developing our ministry and mission at the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in the life of this large and growing parish. We are seeking someone who will:
Be part of an active and supportive Ministry Team (ordained and lay) seeking to build up the congregations for their roles inside and outside of Church life
Help to lead and develop the Pastoral Care within the parish
Be open to being creative and experimental in shaping the life of the Church

Fulltime – 50% share between each role
Can you combine the skills to lead and grow a rural benefice on the ancient Mendip hills and spearhead Stewardship support and advice across the Diocese?
Living in the vicarage in Westbury-sub-Mendip, through your vision and enthusiasm you will continue to put the three churches in this benefice at the centre of their rural communities. You will enjoy the support of a committed team of readers and wardens to deliver worship in a variety of settings and styles and engage with the schools and groups within the villages. There is a Benefice Office with an Administrator in the Easton Vestry.
While working for the Diocese you will have the support of a PA, based in nearby Wells, and a team of Honorary Stewardship Advisers. As a team you will help and advise Church members across our diocese realise and develop the resources and talent they have to support ministry and mission. The majority of your time in the Stewardship role will be spent in direct contact with people in the parishes, while any administration will be shared between visiting Wells and working from your own parish study.

A 4 bedroomed house in the village of Galhampton is provided. Terms of appointment will be in accordance with Diocesan guidelines.

Wells Archdeaconry Warden
Being an Archdeaconry Warden is a fruitful and satisfying act of service. In Bath and Wells, the work of Wardens is undertaken by priests to help encourage strong links between the laity and the clergy.
Whilst Archdeaconry Wardens do work with incumbents and other clergy, the role is truly diaconal, serving our Readers and promoting and encouraging Readership around the Archdeaconry and Diocese
