Parish Communications

To effectively serve our communities and meet local need, our parishes must engage with local people. Good communications is essential to this.

Parish magazines, news releases, weekly notice sheets, notice boards, websites and social media are important tools that churches are using to good effect to  support their ministry and we want to help you make the most of them.

Practical advice and guidance

Communicating the Good News (see Downloads below) is a toolkit featuring a wealth of practical tips and guidance on writing media releases, design, revamping your website, getting started in social media and more.

Our social media guidelines will help you navigate the social media landscape with confidence and are a good starting point for your own guidelines specific to your parish. Please note that these are currently being updated to reflect some recent changes. Should you have any questions or concerns in the meantime please get in touch.

Publications

Manna magazine is produced by the communications team, working with an editorial panel of clergy and lay people from across the diocese. The magazine goes out to parishes quarterly – consider how you might use this tool to communicate the Gospel and what it means to be Christian.

Connect, the diocesan monthly e-newsletter for anyone involved in running a church, is packed with articles, news and events – feel free to reproduce any material. The same goes for items from the e-bulletin or anywhere on this site.
