The Big Tent was back in Wellington this summer (Tuesday 16, Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 August) for its fifth annual event. The 3-day holiday club run by Wellington’s churches for primary school aged children took place take in a large marquee on the sports field of Wellesley Park Primary School.
This year’s theme was ‘MegaMakers’ and 75 children joined in the fun with an action-packed programme of games, competitions, songs, videos, craft activities and Bible stories exploring the vastness of God’s love for each one of us.
Church youth workers Courtney Gill and Andy Levett fronted the programme with a team of over 20 volunteers from the churches in Wellington coming together to make it all happen: leading activities, working alongside the children and supporting the event behind the scenes.
Steve Jenkins, pastor of Life Central Church, who was also part of the team, commented: “This is my first experience of The Big Tent and I have to say it is the best organised children’s holiday club I have been involved with. Along with great energy and excitement from everyone, came a message of hope for our children in Wellington. I’m already looking forward to next year!”
“On behalf of Big Tent, I’d like to say a massive thank you to Wellington Town Council for their grant, to Wellesley Park Primary School for the use of their fantastic grounds, and to all of the Wellington Church for their financial and prayerful support. This has definitely been our best year so far.”
