The Revd Tina Hodgett, currently Team Pilgrim in the Parish of Portishead, has been appointed to the position of Evangelism Team Leader for the diocese.
The post has been created within the new Ministry for Mission team that will be in place later this year and reflects the diocese’s priority of placing mission and evangelism at the heart of all we do.
Commenting on her appointment, Tina said: “I’m looking forward to joining in with all God is already doing across the diocese. There’s lots of encouraging stuff going on – traditional and experimental – and I hope I can play a part in enabling all of us to grow in confidence in telling our story, to find ways of sharing Jesus that make him accessible and attractive for the people around us, whoever and wherever they are.”
Revd Rob Eastwood Dewing, Rector of Portishead said: “Tina has contributed a huge amount during her time in Portishead. She has encouraged the church to think differently about mission, helped people to be involved in ways that they would never have dreamed possible and journeyed with people with whom we would not otherwise have had contact. She has left a great legacy of green shoots of growth here. She has huge energy and is full of joy. She is just the person to help the Diocese to engage in mission with fresh eyes. We will miss her terribly – but our loss is the wider Diocese’s gain.”
In her new role, Tina will work across the diocese to provide guidance, teaching, encouragement and training in evangelism. She will also be supporting people involved in pioneering, church-planting and fresh expressions. Tina will take up her position in the new year.
