Here in Bath Deanery our vision is to see hundreds of new disciples made over the next few years. It’s really exciting to be joining in with God’s mission and we want to work together to help and support each other. Undergirding this will, of course, be a firm foundation of prayer.
My role as newly appointed Deanery Evangelism Adviser will be to encourage the many individual Christians, chaplains and churches across the city who are already telling the story of Jesus, linking them up to pray and to share good ideas, honest feedback and testimonies of God at work. And when people become Christians, we’ll be working together to discover good ways of discipling them.
A huge proportion of the city is under 35 and we really want to develop links with students, those with young families and those employed in the locality, and to introduce this generation to Christ in a relevant way.
We also believe that God has a heart for the poor and we are committed to discipling those living in areas of deprivation – so called ‘Magnificat’ parishes.
As a major tourist centre, we also have significant opportunities for Jesus flavoured conversations with visitors.
