One of the exciting ways in which we have been telling the story of Jesus within our primary schools across the Deanery is to work with them over the Easter period. A number of Benefices ran Easter Experiences to which hundreds of children came, and within three schools, we worked with the year 3 classes to re-write and illustrate the Easter Story.
Each child was then presented with an Easter Book of their classes work. Within one school, one child asked as she encountered the betrayal and crucifixion story for the first time, “Why is this so sad?” to which I replied, “just wait and see how the story unfolds…” as we came to the resurrection she was overjoyed that the story of Jesus had a happy ending.
As we head out into this Resurrection season, I pray that we might continue to find new ways of retelling the story of Jesus within our communities, and that we too might have joy, knowing He is Risen indeed, Hallelujah!
