The diocese offers a residential consultation which looks at issues relating to retirement in order that those who are due to retire in the next few years may be better prepared. We share these events with a number of neighbouring dioceses. Participants explore together positive ways of approaching the remaining years of present ministry, how foundations for a fruitful and healthy retirement can be laid now and various practical issues such as housing, pensions, investments and leisure. This consultation is designed to be of maximum benefit for those thinking of retiring in roughly three years’ time.
Those who are married are encouraged to attend the consultation as a couple and the diocese pays the costs for both partners. Previous participants have found them very valuable and have appreciated the opportunity to talk and share together. There are a variety of one day and residential opportunities through the year for those beginning to think about retirement, please do be in touch with the Training Team Leader if you would like to explore what is available.
There are also courses on Preparing for Retirement that take place bi-annually at Sarum College. The next courses are:
Monday 19th March – Wednesday 21st March 2018 (fully booked)
Monday 24th September – Wednesday 26th September 2018 (spaces available)
