New minibus for Kathryn’s Mercy Home

Last year the churches of the Quantock Deanery chose Kathryn’s Mercy Home as their charity to be funded by the Deanery Mission Project. Each church contributed towards the fantastic total of £9,600 to help raise funds for a minibus in order to transport the girls from their hostel to school in the town of Devakottai, South India.

That minibus has now been provided so the girls no longer have to walk along the busy main road which is set to become a major freeway. The bus will also be used by the primary school and other groups.

The Reverend Kathryn Flenley, Associate Vicar at Watchet and Williton, says, “Without the generous support received from our churches this result could not have been achieved. God’s provision is such that the amount raised has exactly matched the cost of the minibus which is now in service!”

Kathryn’s Mercy Home provides hostel accommodation for girls from poor rural villages so that they can attend secondary school, as well as providing excellent nursery and primary education for local children.
