Loving Lord, we praise you for the arrival of the Revd Jane Durham, our Deanery Mission Enabler, and we pray that her presence amongst us will enable all members of synod to have confidence in speaking of our faith and to be salt and light in the deanery.
Our Deanery Mission Plan called for the appointment of a Deanery Mission Enabler, and this halftime post has now been filled. This is a real answer to prayer, and our continuing prayer for her is that she will help us to be become confident in living and telling the story of Jesus in our homes, villages and towns.
We have two benefices in vacancy, and we pray for the Churchwardens and PCCs as they work on parish profiles and deal with the practicalities of vacancy. May they be strengthened spiritually and confident in their ministry to the parishes they serve. We pray that the right appointments may be made.
We give thanks for Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) funding received in December which will allow St John’s Glastonbury to undertake the repairs and reordering planned for many years. We pray for the church family whilst the building is closed for a year for the work to be undertaken. The congregation is very grateful for the generosity of St Benedict’s and St Mary’s in welcoming the church family during this period.
We pray that this time will be fruitful as the parishes in the benefice work more closely together. We also remember the Deanery Mission and Pastoral Group (DMPG) as they prayerfully assess our Mission Action Plan and review priorities within the five areas of vision: educational links, communication, pastoral needs, training and mission opportunities.
