Go Team Launch Bible Chat Mat

This week, the Go Team has been touring the diocese with their Inspire Evenings. They have been particularly excited to be launching their new resource, the Bible Chat Mat. Since the Church of England published their paper, ‘Growing Faith’ in 2019, the Go Team have been looking at new ways to connect Church, Household and School and join in with the Growing Faith Adventure.

The Bible Chat Mat was dreamt up one Monday, when the Go Team gathered at the Old Deanery to pray, plan and prepare. The team were looking at ways in which households could explore the Bible, Pray and Grow in Faith together. They wanted to create something intergenerational and interactive that encouraged conversation. From here came the Bible Chat Mat.

The Go Team were delighted to work with Rev’d Andy Gray, part time Faith Sharing Enabler at the Diocese of Bath Wells and Illustrator. Andy turned the Go Team’s idea into a graffiti style mat that far surpassed their creative imaginations! At this stage the Go Team have commissioned Andy to produce 15 Bible Chat Mats. Twelve will be themed ‘Jesus the…’ and three will be seasonal specials; ‘It’s Easter!’, ‘It’s Harvest!’ and ‘It’s Christmas!’.

Bible Chat Mat can be used around a meal table, sitting on the sofa, in the garden or wherever works best. This activity can be done as a household, friends together, home group, Sunday group or even in a school context. The sheets can be coloured and doodled on, allowing you to respond to the Bible in your own unique way.

Go Team Adviser, Cheryl says

We were sensing that households were really struggling to know how to grow faith in the home, unsure of what resources to turn to. We sought to produce something simplistic, yet creative. We have been really excited to see how Andy has turned our idea into something so amazing. We want to give households the tools to help them grow in their faith and we hope this will see households, churches and schools being given a useful resource to help them in this Growing Faith Adventure.

You can download the first of these from the website and more will be added as they are completed.

We would love to hear how you are using the Bible Chat Mat, so please share your stories on with @GoTeamAdvisers on Twitter and Instagram or email one of the team.
