Bishop Ruth has the following message, following the Government’s announcement today (31 October) of a second national lockdown from Thursday, 5 November.
“The news of a second national lockdown will be devastating for so many people. Our churches will be able to remain open as places of sanctuary and solace in these dark times, for private prayer, for funerals and to provide essential voluntary services according to the Government’s guidance released tonight. I pray tonight for all those made most anxious and fearful by the new lockdown, and I thank God for those who will continue to serve on the front line throughout this period. It will be a challenging month for so many of us but I know we will come together again to support one another and come through this period into the light and hope of Christmas.”
