A couple from St Mary’s church in Ilminster took the unusual step of marking ten years of marriage by renewing their wedding vows on Valentine’s day via Zoom. John and Kerry who were married in 2011, decided to renew their wedding vows after responding to a Valentine’s post on Facebook. But these being different times, they were unable to gather family and friends in person. Instead Revd Jo Stobart conducted the service inside the church whilst John and Kerry supported by their friends and family joined online. It was no less a happy occassion.
There were lots of lovely reminders of that special day ten years ago; Kerry wore her wedding dress and her brother read the same Bible reading that was read at their wedding a decade earlier; Kerry even had her ring brought to her on the origional ring pillow.
It was a double celebration for Kerry as 14 February is also her birthday. At the end of the service all who gathered online raised a glass to Kerry and sang happy birthday to her.
