As you know, the diocese has declared a Climate Emergency and is therefore committed to support and influence change within our diocese.

To help us understand more about the climate crisis, Rob Walrond, our Diocesan Rural Life Advisor, has kindly offered to host us at his farm to see and hear how the changing climate is impacting local farmers.

About the farm visit

Rob will talk about his experience as a local farmer and show us his Flood Alleviation Project which is now helping to protect the Somerset Levels. We will also have the opportunity to hear from local charity, Send a Cow, for whom Bishop Ruth is a patron.

During the afternoon, we will virtually meet Titus Sagala, agriculturalist and Country Director of Send a Cow, Kenya. Titus will explain how the charity is working with rural farmers in both Kenya and Zambia to help them adapt to the climate crisis and grow enough to fight hunger.

As we consider the climate crisis both locally and globally, Bishop Ruth invites you to consider supporting Send a Cow this Harvest Festival, if you’ve not already got plans.

The team will be at the event to share their church and school Harvest resources which this year have an emphasis on the climate crisis.

The afternoon will finish with refreshments and an opportunity to catch up with each other after a long time of being apart!
