Queen's Platinum Jubilee
This year the country will celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a four day Bank Holiday, from 2 to 5 June. It is hoped that many churches and communities will be able to celebrate this landmark anniversary, and the Church of England has produced a selection of resources are designed for use in a variety of contexts to help plan local celebrations, perhaps in the presence of elected representatives, service organisations, and representatives of the wider community. The resources include special prayers, an outline Service of Thanksgiving, graces to be said at Jubilee Lunches, and prayers for planting trees as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy. A special website celebrating The Queen’s faith and service has been set up at theplatinumjubilee.com focusing on six ways to mark the occasion: Celebrate, sing, gift, learn, service and invite.
