What We Do

While we have several key areas of focus that drive our work, our priority is to support our parishes to become Eco Churches, as part of a diocesan journey towards becoming an Eco Diocese.

Find out more about Eco Church.

  • Strive to develop biblical and spiritual engagement with the environment
  • Work to shrink the collective carbon footprint within the Diocese and encourage individuals to do the same
  • Seek to address/resource issues related to ‘greening’ church buildings
  • Encourage renewable energy alternatives and promote energy savings within our parishes, communities and homes
  • Support ethical ecological investing
  • Promote Pray and Fast for the Climate a movement of Christians in the UK praying and fasting on the 1st of each month especially in the lead up to UN talks in Paris in 2015.
  • Support parishes interested in becoming eco-congregations.

Throughout the year, the environment group holds events and sponsors educational opportunities related to our work.

We also promote admirable work being done by others.  Please check out our events, education and news pages for upcoming events that may be of interest to you.
