Young people’s trip to Zambia

The young people of Zambia are inviting you to visit their country and experience life as they live it. Are you interested in joining us?

What is the visit about?

As part of the Bath & Wells – Zambia Anglican link, our Zambian friends are reaching out in welcome and friendship to the young people of Somerset by inviting you to spend time with them to experience their country and all the wonderful things it has to offer. It’s a chance for you to open a window on another part of the world; to experience a culture different to your own, to learn from the lives of others, to meet new people and build lasting relationships.

What would I be doing when I am in Zamba?
You will be spending two weeks in Zambia. The first five days will be spent in a town. Working in collaboration with the young people you will help deliver sports days, school events and conferences. For the second part of the trip you will be living in a rural community which has little access to water. During your time there you will have the chance to help build a borehole so the community can have unlimited access to water. It’s hoped this will be achieved by the end of your week. The last few days of your time in Zambia will be spent in Livingstone. Here you will have the opportunity to visit the magnificent Victoria Falls and will also spend time on a game drive. There will also be a time for reflection, to think about all that God has done.

Can I afford it?
The trip will cost around £1300 per person, this includes your flights, food, accommodation, travel in Zambia, social activities and the cost of the borehole construction. It doesn’t include the cost of visas, vaccinations and travel insurance. BUT…Please don’t let money be an obstacle as we will fundraise together as a large group and we will not stop till each group member has reached their target. The team work starts early!

When will we be going?
The dates are yet to be confirmed, but are likely to be 29 June – 13 July 2020 .

What do I need to do if I am interested?
