Exploring Spiritual Accompaniment

Exploring Spiritual Accompaniment offers a practical course in listening and spiritual accompaniment. Unfortunately we cannot offer this course at present.

Exploring  Spiritual Accompaniment

This course focuses on the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary for the work of spiritual accompaniment, also known as spiritual direction. People who find that other people already speak with them about spiritual matters may find this course helpful. Similarly, people who offer pastoral care and have good listening skills, as well as a good understanding of the faith journey, may like to develop this area of their lives.

It is helpful for people to complete a course in Christian Spirituality such as the Exploring your Spiritual Journey Course before joining.  Alternatively, a good knowledge of differing Christian spiritualities will help. Both lay and ordained people are welcome to join the group.

Those interested will need to complete an application form and attend an interview. You will, also, need to provide references. For the sake of the group, and your own development, we will request a commitment to attend all sessions, as far as possible. We will update this page when we are able to offer the course again.

If you are interested in training to be a Spiritual Accompanier then you can contact the Spiritual Direction Adviser for a list of courses. The Retreat Association also provides a list of training opportunities.

Spirituality is:

the journey…

encountering the other…
