31 December Financial Year end
by 31 January Statistics for Mission due
by 30 April Annual Report & Accounts, including Independent Examiner’s Statement, to be approved by PCC & presented to APCM
by 31 May Annual Report & Accounts to be filed and Finance Return due

Budget
Ensure a budget is prepared.
Understand how your PCC operates
- What reports are required by your PCC?
- Main sources of income and expenditure
- How records are kept (Diocesan Cashbook can be downloaded for free)
- How/who deals with Gift Aid and Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme (GASDS) claims
- How/who deals with Parochial Fees (weddings & funerals)

PCC Accountability: all charities which prepare accruals accounts are required to follow one of two charity Statements Of Recommended Practice (SORP).

The Association of Church Accountants & Treasurers (ACAT) has produced a New Treasurers’ Guide (downloadable from the Parish Resources website).
Training available
New Treasurers’ Day (annual), in the early autumn at The Old Deanery, Wells. Details and how to book are on our training web page.
Updates are sent as changes occur via the Luke 14:28 Treasurers’ Learning Network, to which you can sign up free of charge – see ‘Other ways we can support you’ below.
Diocesan Cashbook training is offered periodically.
External – The Association of Church Accountants & Treasurers (ACAT) offers training.

This is an online forum through which we can contact members with information to support you in your role as Treasurer. It enables you to pose a question and receive replies from other Treasurers or members of the Finance or Parish Resources & Development teams who know the answer or have come across a similar situation. To join, sign up online.
