Raising money for your Church is hard at the moment with congregations unable to meet face to face. So, as a diocese, we’ve partnered with fundraising website easyfundraising to make raising funds a little bit easier…
easyfundraising provides two ways for churches to generate income:
- Through donations generated when supporters shop online through the easyfundraising website
- By offering supporters the opportunity to make direct donations to your church.
Donations raised by online shopping
How does easyfundraising work?
It’s a really straightforward way to fund raise – many of your congregation and other supporters shop online and, with easyfundraising, you can turn that shopping into funds for your church, at no cost to you!
When a supporter uses the easyfundraising website or app to shop online with 4000 leading retailers like Amazon, eBay, Just Eat, Trainline, John Lewis, Booking.com, Argos and Tesco, the retailer they shop with sends your Church a free donation at no extra cost.
They don’t need to change where they shop as most of the larger retailers are part of this great scheme so your congregation can raise money for your church just by doing their everyday online shopping with the retailers they use anyway.
For more information download our ‘Get Started’ guide to help get fundraising for your church off the ground.
Ann is a part of her local church. She wants to buy a new kettle from John Lewis. Instead of visiting the John Lewis website, she firstly goes to the easyfundraising website and clicks on the ‘John Lewis’ link.
The easyfundraising website will then send her to the John Lewis website where she shops as normal and buys her kettle. But because she started at easyfundraising, John Lewis will send her Church a free donation at no extra cost to Ann. It’s that simple.
Online shopping donations are accrued and paid to your church every quarter. You can manage your easyfundraising account online and see how well you’re doing at any point. There are also lots of useful tools to maximise your ability to promote easyfundraising to your potential supporters including content and links for social media channels and even content that can be included in your local parish magazine!
easyfundraising also works with a wide range of sustainable retailers such as Oxfam, Ethical Superstore, National Trust and lots more. This means your supporters can shop ethically and give your Church a big funding boost at the same time.
Direct donations with easyfundraising
As well as raising money through online shopping, with easyfundraising, anyone can also choose to make a donation to your church at the click of a button. It’s quick, simple and 100% secure.
When you register your church with easyfundraising, you receive your own personalised easyfundraising webpage. You can populate this page with details about your church and even add your own logo or image.
On the page is a donation button which will take a donor through a quick and simple donation process where they can enter their card details and complete their donation. You can customise your donation process to include the option for donors to Gift Aid their donation and the system will collect their Gift Aid details and provide these to you each week along with the donations that have been received. Donors can also choose to remain anonymous or even send a message to accompany their donation.
There are no platform costs charged by easyfundraising to receive online donations, but a transaction fee of 1.4% + 20p is levied by their card processing company, Stripe.
