We are a recently formed Benefice of six churches, comprising the parishes of Beacon Trinity, Chewton Mendip with Emborough, Litton and Ston Easton, located in Somerset’s beautiful East Mendip Hills countryside.
We are inviting a new Vicar to help us as we build on our foundations, and develop ways of working together, leading us forward in our mission to grow together in Christ and instil His love into the heart of our rural community.
We hope that our new Vicar:
- Will be someone who has a sense of humour and is excited to become an integral part of our friendly, loving and close-knit church family as tutor, advisor and friend.
- Can be a spiritual leader who will help and encourage us to evolve and grow to meet the changing needs of our communities.
- Can cherish our traditions at the same time as leading us towards change and into a new era within our new benefice.
- Has both skill and imagination enough to make regular worship both familiar and fresh and that also resonates with visitors.
- Relishes the idea of continuing a close relationship with our church primary schools.
- Is caring, hospitable and committed to the pastoral element of rural ministry (with our support).
- Will be ‘Someone who is dazzled by the beauty of God and longs to reveal that beauty in the world.’ (The life and work of a priest, John Pritchard.)
We can offer:
- A committed and faithful church family, who are also active members of all our different village groups and communities.
- Strong and active links with our local primary schools.
- Supportive lay teams of PCCs, Churchwardens and volunteers with a shared commitment to grow and develop our vision.
- A paid part-time administrator.
- Dedicated organists, serving all churches within the Benefice.
- A desirable location in the Mendip Hills countryside with well-appointed modern vicarage in Chewton Mendip and good primary and secondary schools in the area.
We very much hope that reading our Benefice Profile will encourage you to apply for this post. We guarantee a warm welcome!
