Voluntary Chaplain – St John Ambulance, Somerset

St John Ambulance is seeking a voluntary Chaplain to support the county of Somerset. In this honorary role, you will provide pastoral care across the county to the St John Units and Networks that include Badgers, Cadets and Adults. There are units situated across Somerset, including Wellington, Taunton, Wells, Bridgwater, Street, Glastonbury, Yeovil and Highbridge. Committee meetings tend to happen in Taunton or Street and some online. 

As Chaplain, you will balance the tradition of the Order of St John with day to day life of the Units and Networks, championing "One St John" and supporting our vital work providing First Aid support to our communities and the commercial sector. You will inspire and guide St John in Somerset, following the values of St John and guided by the motto, "Pro Fide Pro Utilitate Hominum” – “For the Faith and in the Service of Humanity.”  

Requirements include:
Qualifications: Accredited clergy or lay leaders in good standing

  • Skills & Experience: Ability to understand and embody St John's mission, collaborate with colleagues, provide pastoral care with empathy, and promote neutrality and confidentiality.  
  • Competencies: Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, and sound judgment to navigate a complex and diverse environment.  IT literacy, focused on SharePoint.
  • Attributes: Flexible, encouraging, open to change, and committed to personal, professional, and spiritual development.
