Discernment in Spiritual Direction

Date: 8th September 2021

Time: 10:00 - 16:00

Join Nick Helm, self-supporting minister and Advisor in Spirituality in the Hereford Diocese at this Zoom session. Register by 16 August.

Every choice we make is an opportunity to discern what leads us in the ‘better way’ – the ‘easy yoke’ of our becoming more fully ourselves. In spiritual direction, we have the privilege of accompanying others in their discerning. The aim of this day is to explore how Ignatian wisdom on Discernment applies in the ministry of Spiritual Direction. We’ll look at the concepts of consolation and desolation, how we experience them, and how they enable us to recognise the movements of the Spirit in ourselves as Spiritual Directors and in those who come to us for Spiritual Direction. Consequently, enabling clearer focus and better discernment.

Revd Preb Nick Helm is a self-supporting minister and Advisor in Spirituality in the Hereford Diocese. He’s been involved in Spiritual Direction and Spiritual Direction training for over 20 years, working in Sheffield and Hereford Dioceses. He’s published three books in the Grove Spirituality Series – ‘Soul Spark’, ‘Ignatius of Loyola’ and ‘Seeking Spiritual Direction’. He has been involved in establishing the National Forum for Spiritual Directors and is Chair of the Spiritual Exercises Network and regularly offers development days for Spiritual Directors.

This day will be held on Zoom and is limited to 55 participants.

Final date for registration is 31st August 2021. Please book early to avoid disappointment.

Registration is now CLOSED.
