Day 18

Reading - Luke 2:1-5

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register. So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.

Reflection

Mary and Joseph embark on a journey to Joseph’s hometown to register for a census. What’s a memorable journey you have been on?

Prayer

Today we ask for protection for all those who are travelling to see their loved ones this Christmas. May their journeys bring them joy as well as reaching their destination. Amen.

Activity

On the eighteenth day of Advent:

  • Place a picture or model of a mode of transport on your spiral.
  • This week swap one journey in the car for a more eco-friendly way of travelling.
