The Flourishing Rural Church Group is dedicated to supporting and strengthening rural churches, helping them to thrive in their unique contexts. We recognize the challenges that rural churches face - such as isolation, maintaining buildings, and engaging with small or scattered communities - but also the rich opportunities they have to be at the heart of village life.
This group works to:
- Ensuring a rural perspective is always considered in all that the Diocese does
- Support clergy and lay leaders in rural ministry
- Encourage innovative mission and community engagement
- Share best practices for sustainability and growth
- Provide resources and training for rural churches.
We believe that rural churches can flourish by embracing their distinctiveness and building strong relationships with their communities. Whether it’s through seasonal services, partnerships with local schools and farms, or rural chaplaincy, our aim is to help rural churches remain active, visible, and valued.
