Teaching about generosity

Teaching about generosity is a key focus of the Bath and Wells Diocese, aimed at fostering a culture of giving within church communities. This initiative offers a range of resources and support to help parishes integrate the principles of generosity into their teachings and daily practices.

Key Components

  1. Generosity Learning Hub: The diocese provides access to the Generosity Learning Hub, a comprehensive resource developed by the National Giving Team. This hub includes materials for preaching, teaching, and learning about generosity, suitable for all traditions and settings within the church.

  2. Giving for Life: The "Giving for Life" program helps parishes review their stewardship and generosity approaches. It offers practical tools and guidance to encourage generous giving among church members, based on insights from a survey of over 1,100 parishes.

  3. Small Group Resources: The diocese supports small group activities that explore faith and generosity. These groups offer a space for worship, Bible study, prayer, and sharing, which helps deepen understanding and practice of generosity within the community.

  4. Educational Support: For schools and religious education, the diocese provides training and resources to incorporate generosity into their curriculum. This includes using Bible Chat Mats and other tools to enhance understanding of Christian values and generosity.

By leveraging these resources, churches can effectively teach about generosity, inspiring their congregations to embrace and practice generous living.
