The New ‘Taunton Minster’ is an outstanding opportunity for a committed Christian with a heart for service to join a living church as it starts to work out its exciting vision for a wider mission in the town.
The civic church in the county town of Somerset, the Minster is a busy church, worshipping and serving the community from a beautiful Grade I listed building and offers formal and informal services embracing diverse expressions of worship.
We are looking to make a full-time appointment of a Vverger who will be at the heart of Minster life, making sure the church is presented in the best possible way at all times. For many, the Minster is their regular place of worship, whether in person or more recently via our streamed services. Its Coffee and Book shops are popular with shoppers, tourists, and those who are lonely or have special needs.
This is a widely varied role including working collaboratively with volunteers and external hirers of the church to ensure the warmth of its welcome is experienced by all and the dignity of the Minster as a place of worship is maintained. Previous verging experience is not essential but a good understanding of liturgical worship and of using social media will be beneficial.
