St Margaret's C.E.V.A Primary school in Tintinhull has received another accolade for its green education.
It has been awarded a Level 5 outstanding award from the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) for its part in the It's your neighbourhood' category. It's your neighbourhood is for outdoor spaces being looked after by the local community. Each year those taking part receive feedback on how to grow and develop their work. St Margaret's not only works on the garden at the school, they also encourage others in the village to use some of their outdoor space.
The recent award for the school was part of the broader Yeovil in Bloom competition and contributed to the overall Gold rating received. The award recognised the school's quiet area and sunflower circle, their pond, growing space and wildflower meadow.
This latest award is the third the school has won for its gardening in the past three years. Previously the RHS gave the school a Level 5 gardening rating and it received a Gold Award from the Woodland Trust. The RHS also invited the children to do a regular video on gardening which it has shared on its Facebook page.
The school is a green school with a Forest School in its grounds. Headteacher Hayley Robinson said, "We are very honoured to have this award from the RHS and I thank our staff and children for all their hard work.
"Also we're very graeful to the Yeovil Rivers Community Trust for all its support."
