Jonathan joins the Giving and Funding team

Jonathan Philpott has been appointed as the Local Giving Adviser for Taunton and Wells archdeaconries.

Jonathan, who until recently was parish priest for Berrow and Brean says, “I am so pleased to have the opportunity to work as Local Giving Adviser alongside Natalie and Kate. Having spent 17 years in parish ministry, I hope that I will be able to bring my own experience of parish finances to the team, but also a real understanding to the parishes and benefices that I will be working with in the future.

Natalie Wainwright, Lead Giving and Funding Adviser for Bath and Wells says, “We are really thrilled to welcome Jonathan to the Giving and Funding Team and are confident that his skills and experience will be a real blessing to us and the parishes that we serve.

“Jonathan’s previous experience working within Bath and Wells will help us to tailor resources to the needs of busy clergy and wider church leadership teams, whilst helping church members to grow in their understanding of the role of giving as part of discipleship.

“We are looking forward to building upon the work of the past couple of years, continuing to assist parishes with the adoption of new giving mechanisms, facilitating Generous Church Check-Ups and Giving Reviews, as well as providing greater support to clergy in inspiring giving and generosity within parishes and communities.”

Jonathan is the second Local Giving Adviser in Bath and Wells; he joins Kate Mayo who holds the role in the Bath Archdeaconry.

In addition to his part time giving and funding role, Jonathan will also be providing administrative support for the ADDOs involved in the vocations process when current administrator, Sue Cartmel, retires at the end of July.
