Bishop Michael joined Christchurch Primary School for the official opening and blessing of its brand-new Nurture Hub facility, a dedicated space designed to support the emotional and social wellbeing of its pupils.
The Nurture Hub represents a significant step forward in the school’s commitment to inclusive education and pupil wellbeing. Designed as a safe, welcoming environment, the Hub will provide targeted support for children who may be experiencing emotional challenges, helping them to build resilience, confidence, and positive relationships.
Kerry James, the Head Teacher, expressed the school’s gratitude for the support of the diocese and the wider school community:"The Nurture Hub is a vital addition to our school. It will allow us to offer tailored support to children who need a little extra help to thrive, both emotionally and academically. We are deeply that Bishop Michael blessed the space and shares in our vision for nurturing every child."
During his visit the school shared a poem written by a Year 6 pupil with Bishop Michael, in it the pupil expressed in their own words, what a difference the Nurture Hub will make.
The Nurture Hub will be staffed by trained professionals and will be integrated into the school’s broader pastoral care strategy. “We think about children who have high or complex needs, or who might just need a bit of nurturing — children who might not have had the best start to their day. They come into this space with a set routine and clear boundaries. It just feels very nurturing. It’s almost like a school hug to support the children.”
