Singing outside church as part of the first Front Garden Music Festival

17th June 2021

Priest-in-charge at St John the Evangelist in Highbridge, Revd Martin Little and his band took to the streets as part of the first ever Front Garden Music Festival organised to bring the people of Sedgemoor together and to raise their spirits.

Organisers Seed, an Arts Council-funded initiative designed to get more people involved in the arts and cultural activity said: “Life is a little more normal in the UK. But preforming artists, are still locked out of many performing opportunities with restrictions in audience numbers still in place and many venues still to reopen.”

Across Sedgemoor, around 20 local artists stepped out the front door, set up in their front garden and performed for neighbours and passers-by. For Revd Martin, the front garden was outside St John’s where his band, Mossflower – guitar, drums and double bass, set up and joined in the fun.

‘It was a lovely day and we're hoping it can now be an annual event.’ Said Martin, guitarist and singer in Mossflower.

Those who wanted could bring along their garden chairs, sit outside St John’s and enjoy the entertainment. For others who couldn’t make it the event was livestreamed via Seed social media channels.
