The latest newsletter from the Safeguarding team is now available, with information on the new leadership training course, an invitation to the Celebration of Lay Ministries and an explainer of what the role of diocesan safeguarding team is responsible for.
As Ben Goodhind, Safeguarding Manager explains, "There is some confusion around what constitutes a safeguarding case for church purposes, as the definition of vulnerability the church uses is different to the statutory definition. To further complicate matters the term safeguarding as applied by safeguarding teams is narrower than the everyday concept, which could include wellbeing."
The newsletter also contains a reminder that new diocesan safeguarding posters are available on the Safeguarding Resources and Policies page and news of a safeguarding audit in 2024.
