                    Fiona Gibson made a tour of the diocese on the day her appointment was announced, and received a wonderful Bath and Wells welcome from all the people and places she visited.
 
                            
                    Downing Street has announced today that Fiona Gibson will be the next Bishop of Taunton. She is currently the Archdeacon of Ludlow in the Diocese of Hereford, a role which she has held since 2021.
 
                            
                    Readers from across the diocese gathered in Wells for the Annual Readers’ Day. Following a morning at Flourish House, a Service of Admission, Licensing, Welcome, and Renewal of Commitment of Readers took place at Wells Cathedral.
 
                            
                    St Mary’s Church, Bridgwater will be marking Modern Slavery Day (18 October 2025) with an art exhibition on the theme of 'the hidden', from 17 to 19 October.

                    On Monday, 15 September, over 2,500 primary and middle school children, plus school staff, from 20 schools across Somerset took part in the first of what will be a regular opportunity to join together online in worship throughout the academic year.
